Reaction to "Photographing Conflict for the First Time", by Michael Kamber
As a profession I would say that photojournalism has become easier with the increase in technology, but any real photographer knows that the images you can get off a camera are vastly superior to that of a camera on a phone. Also photojournalists have to be able to get into messy situations and expect to get injured and have to overcome this in order to due an effective job. In this piece veteran photographers were just concerned that "green" photographers where not taking necessary precautions in order to protect themselves. these precautions however can only be learned by mistakes the "green" photographers are bound to make and learn on their own, much similar to that of the veteran photographers. In any other industry veteran workers will always be jealous of new employees and worried if they try to cut safety precaution's. All in all this story was meaningless to me, the writing was poor in my opinion and rambled on about new employers vs the jealous veterans they are bound to replace.
