Reaction to "Photographing Conflict for the First Time", by Michael Kamber
As a profession I would say that photojournalism has become easier with the increase in technology, but any real photographer knows that the images you can get off a camera are vastly superior to that of a camera on a phone. Also photojournalists have to be able to get into messy situations and expect to get injured and have to overcome this in order to due an effective job. In this piece veteran photographers were just concerned that "green" photographers where not taking necessary precautions in order to protect themselves. these precautions however can only be learned by mistakes the "green" photographers are bound to make and learn on their own, much similar to that of the veteran photographers. In any other industry veteran workers will always be jealous of new employees and worried if they try to cut safety precaution's. All in all this story was meaningless to me, the writing was poor in my opinion and rambled on about new employers vs the jealous veterans they are bound to replace.

2/10-critique of the warrior weekly
Andover high school's Warrior Weekly has a very bland layout. The site lacks color and the main graphic has been the same picture of Dr. Lord for the past 3ish months. The layout is fortunately easy to use but it still is missing a flare to spark readers into reading a story.
A story on the website that i read was "Are Youths Ready for Voting Responsibility?" by Freddie Duquet. The story was well researched and included points from various students and teachers. The story demonstrated these opinions through a fluid story that was concise. Overall I would say the story had no major flaws that caught my attention.

Reaction to "Parents fear 'Hunger Games' too violent for young fans"
In the article i found that these parents are too passive and bend to the will of their children way to easily. If you say "no" you mean "no" and your kid should understand that by age ten. In addition I feel these parents are completely over reacting, back when they were youths the movie ratings didn't even include PG-13, so movies like "Ben-Hur" were PG and back in their time would have been way more horrifying than this movie will be. I think this "argument" is just parents over reacting because they don't know how to control their own children. In addition, the movie is PG-13 meaning parental guidance if under the age of 13, so if you don't want your child to be exposed to that don't let them. Lastly, if a parent is worried about their child or their child's friends not thinking they're "cool" then that parent is not doing their job. The parent is suppose to protect and nurture the child into a well-off adult, not try to make their child the most popular child in school.

Respond to the medium of "Do's and Dont's of Storify"
From what I got from the article, storify is a website that allows the user to see social media (like tweets or Facebook updates) in a timeline relating to a specific event. I would agree with the analysis of these two stories. In my opinion, it is a lot easier to read quotes when they are broken up by pictures or word boxes, also quoting yourself does not really prove anything about the event. This form of journalism is effective in crafting a story because it allows the reader to get a good sense of the people at the event and feel like they are there. This form of journalism can lead to shoddy reporting by doing the exact things mentioned in the article, for instance quoting yourself or not giving enough background information on the event due to a lack of research.
Respond to the story, "Do's and Dont's of Storify"
The incident implies to journalists that freedom of speech is something highly defended in American society and that trying to block or diminish it results in a great deal of trouble for the group trying to block it. I would say the rally organisers were right on the point because they got to the heart of the matter, that violence because of prejudices are wrong.

After reading the feature article "Teaching Girls How to Rock" I feel the intended audience is younger women from ages 15-21ish who love music. The intended purpose of this piece is to show young female rockers that getting a band started isn't that challenging you just have to put yourself out there. The article begins by going over how the Jessica Hopper got her start and how far she has gotten in the world of rock. The writers voice in this piece is of praise for Jessica Hopper and the camp Girls Rock Philly. The article uses Jessica Hopper, her book, the camp Girls Rock Philly, Beth Warshaw-Duncan, and many famous female singers and female rock bands. The story includes background information about Jessica Hopper which she found by interviewing her, the camp Girls Rock Philly which she found from the founder Beth Warshaw-Duncan, female rock bands that formed because of the camp which she got from Beth again, and famous female singers which she most likely found on the internet.
Hobbies and interests for feature story:
I propose i write a feature story about National Parks. The story would be interesting to people because they can see where some of there tax dollars go and find out a little something about national parks they might not have even known were around near them like the Lowell National Park. For interviews and sources i could use my dad who is a landscape architect for the federal government that works on national parks, my bother who did a internship job working for the Lowell National Park, and finally some students to see if they like the idea of national parks or if they think that national parks are a waste of tax funds.
Hobbies and interests for feature story:
- Hockey
- Music
- Coin collecting
- Video games
- Theater (musicals and ballet)
- Visiting National Parks
